4 Months Old

Kirksey, you are 4 months old today! I know I say it every month, but I still just can't believe it! You are growing up so fast already. Here are a few of your 4 month pictures...

This one looks like you are hugging Panda, but you were really just using Panda to keep from toppling over
You are still in size 1 diapers, but will probably move up to size 2 in a week or so.
You mostly wear 0-3 month clothes, although I put you in a few 3-6 month clothes sometimes. Those are honestly a little big on you still. But, I know it won't be long before you really fit in them.
You have been sleeping really well for about the last week, averaging 9 hours, in your crib! (With the exception of the last couple of nights...I think you are maybe having another little growth spurt. You have been ravenous and I have had to fed you an extra time for 2 days now) We have a bedtime routine and this is how it goes: We bathe you (every other night), we get you in your pj's and swaddle your body (you must have your arms free now, or you get mad), then I turn your sound machine on the rain setting, I feed you from one side, turn your iPod to your cd of Lullaby Renditions of Classical Children's Songs and let it play once through while I feed you from the other side. You almost always fall asleep nursing. You finish listening to your cd in your sleep and then have the rain sound all night long.
You still have ONLY had breastmilk. And for that I am very proud! I think we are going to give rice cereal a try though in the next few days.
We are still working on getting you to take longer naps during the day. Your daddy is better at getting you to take one than I am. We have been putting you in the swing for your naps (if you will take one).
You love to go outside. If you are really fussy, we can just open the back door and you almost immediately stop crying. I tell you that it is a good thing you like going outdoors since your daddy is going to want to teach you to hunt in a few years!
You also love baths. They also always calm you down. You are just now starting to kick/splash around when you are in them!
You have started laughing some too. The funniest time is when you are sleeping and laugh! It is adorable!
You still "talk" but it is now more squeaks, laughs, and raspberry sounds than coos.
You sit up really well if you have a little support.
You can hold your head up so well too!
Sitting in the chair like a "big girl"

Laughing at Daddy

You go back and forth as to whether you like the playmat these days. Sometimes you can spend 15 minutes under it and be completely satisfied, but other times you really do NOT want to be laying down under it. Instead, I will let you sit against me or help you stand to "play" with it. You are just now really grabbing the toys intentionally, but you still do a lot of looking at them.

You have perfected rolling over...both ways! You go from your tummy to your back AND from your back to your tummy. Here you go...

You are always so proud of yourself when you roll from your tummy to your back

You tried to get your foot to your mouth, but it wouldn't quite reach!
You have gotten to where you really like to roll from your back to your tummy at night to sleep. I always lay you down on your back, but you always manage to be in this postion shortly after. You just started doing this last week. I was so nervous the first night you slept on your tummy, that I did not sleep well, but you ended up sleeping for about 9 hours! I guess I shouldn't worry too much since you can roll yourself so well now. I took these pictures to send to your daddy since he was at work. (He always wants to look at you in the monitor right before he goes to sleep. He loves you SO much!)

I had to move the camera for the monitor up higher since you move around so much now when you sleep. I kept "losing" you in the monitor when it was closer to you.

You have also gotten to where you love to stand up, with help of course! We ordered you this Johnny Jump Up and put you in it earlier this week thinking you would love it. Two things..you don't fit in it yet, and you don't like it yet.

I think you will like it before too long though. It will be nice to be able to put you in it while I cook or clean dishes. Plus, you will be able to stand and jump around in it!

I realized that I have never posted a picture of your finished nursery. So, this is what your room looks like. The monogrammed canvas above the bed is one of my favorite things in your room, other than the paint on the walls!

I don't think we will EVER get tired of kissing you and telling you how much we love you. My heart just overflows for you!

Blow-out and Dinner (Not Together! Ha!)

For those of you who think a "blow-out" is limited to going up the back of a baby, I have proof that is not true. Here is Kirksey's outfit just minutes after the aforementioned "blow-out" occured. I would have gotten a picture of her too, but she was just too messy and squirmy. Plus, that just wouldn't have been very ladylike!

Tonight we had dinner with Ashley, Nicole, and Mills. Kirksey was a little fussy but then passed out on me.

We enjoyed our little dinner out on the town!

Mimi's 60th Birthday

This past Friday we had a surprise party for my mom’s (a.k.a. Mimi) 60th birthday. Richard and I left Charleston on Friday at 9am (after he got off from working all night long) and headed back on Saturday about 2pm. It was a quick trip.
The Invitation

Delicious cake from Ashley Mac's

She was SO surprised

These are the only 2 pictures that I have of Kirksey from the party. I was busy setting things up and never managed to take one picture with my camera.

Kirksey's Dedication

Kirksey was dedicated on Sunday at our church in Charleston, First Baptist Church. The dedication was so special and personal. We were very blessed to have lots of family and friends present. My dad took video of the dedication and Richard was able to put it on youtube video. Here it is for those of you who were not able to be here with us in person.

The lip came out and then she cried.

So dad finished walking her around with Pastor Marshall Blalock.

We all came back to our house for barbecue, lots of sides, and cake!

It was a great day! We are so blessed with Kirksey. I pray that she will come to know the Lord at an early age and follow Him all the days of her life.

Roll-Over

Last week Kirksey rolled from her tummy to her back for the first time. We have been trying to get her to do it again so we could video it. Today we finally got it!
(Disclaimer: Richard has found an app on his iPhone to put these videos together and he's really enjoying it!)

Tired Girl

Kirksey is now "sleeping" in her crib at night...for over a week and a half! We have definitely had some rough and LONG nights in there. I still think we are making progress though and it is slowly getting better. We have also been working on Kirksey's naps during the day. We decided that we were going to try to keep her awake after her first feeding in the morning until just after the second feeding. This morning while we were getting ready (between the 1st and 2nd feeding) I sat Kirksey in her bumbo on the bathroom counter like I usually do. She loves to look in the mirror and smile/coo at the pretty baby. This is how she usually is acting...

But today she just couldn't stay awake any longer...

She didn't even budge when we moved her to get a better angle and were snapping pictures.
