1 Year Old!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIRKSEY!

You are 1 year old today! The time has flown by, I ask "How can you already be 1?"
It doesn't feel like that long ago that we were at the hospital waiting for you to be born.

Here you are 1 year ago. You were so small.

You have grown so much and changed in so many ways!

Picture taking has become a task to keep you still.

You are so good at walking, you prefer to do that instead of crawling or sitting.

You still LOVE Panda and you try to carry him around with you through the house.

I had to get a picture of you in your "birthday suit"!

So, Kirksey, what are you up to at 1 year old?

You still wear size 3 diapers.
You mostly wear 9 month clothes.
You have still been nursing 5 times a day. You eat 3 meals a day. You are thankfully a good eater and you haven't started being picky yet. I hope you stay that way!
Grapes are your favorite food these days. You will spit out what you have in your mouth if you see a grape, because you want that more!
You still take 2 naps a day that usually last about 1 1/2 to 2 hours each.
You have gotten so good at walking. You don't trip nearly as much now that you have learned to go around "obstacles".
You love to dance to music. Anytime you hear music come on the TV or one of your toys you will stop what you are doing and bounce up and down. It is the cutest thing!
You can follow simple directions such as "Go take this to Daddy", or "Go get your froggie".
Your favorite words these days are "bye, bye". You say this when someone is leaving, when we are going on an errand, when you are tired of something, when we drain the water from the bathtub...you say this a lot! You still frequently say "hey", "uh-oh".
You are very persistant.
You are starting to "test" us. For example, when we tell you "no" you will stop momentarily, then look at us and try it again. So, we repeat this until I end up having to move you away from whatever it is, then you start to pitch a fit unless I can distract you.
You have the most infectious laugh! I love the sweet sounds you make. And your smile still lights up every moment of my day!
You like Maci. You want to feed him off your tray while you are eating. You also get very excited when he does tricks for you, like rolling over. You will try to move your hands like I do to motion to Maci to roll-over.
Today, we picked Daddy up for lunch. We went to Chick-fil-a to eat. I had brought you a little cow's milk for you to try for the first time. We also picked out a cupcake for you to try.

Yum...

Wait, what is this?

The cupcake we got was called "Birthday Surprise". You weren't so sure about it.

And you didn't like it too much, but I'm sure that will change. Afterall, you are my daughter and I have a BIG sweet tooth!

We tried again during your snack time today (we started snack time today since I am starting to wean you) and you ate about 1/4 of the cupcake.

We love you so much more than we ever thought we could. We felt this way the day you were born, but we love you even more today!

His & Her Shower

Time is winding down to the big day for Heather and Taylor. They have the daily countdown going. (I make fun of them, but I was the EXACT same way right before our wedding)
Christa, Michael, Richard, and I threw them a couple's shower/football watching shower.

There was lots of Auburn and Alabama stuff.

We had to throw in a little Mississippi State stuff.

And some UAB colors

We had cornhole set up, but everyone was more interested in watching the games.

Kirksey thought she was the life of the party!

The happy couple!

We had a great time celebrating Heather and Taylor!

In Loving Memory

Our Mammaw
July 20, 1931-November 4, 2011

She made this blanket for Kirksey.

First time meeting eachother. Kirksey wore purple...Mammaw's favorite color.

I'm so thankful that Kirksey was able to meet her Great-Grandmother on my side of the family.
She was such a wonderful lady and will be greatly missed...but we will see her again one day, so I will rejoice.
