18 Months Old

Kirksey you are 1 1/2 years old. Even as I type it I cannot believe you have been in our lives so long!

We are so blessed by having you as a daughter.

You keep us very busy

with lots of smiles on all our faces. Your smile and laugh is contagious.

You wear mostly 12-18 month, or 18 month clothes.
You still wear a size 4 diaper.
You are still in a size 3 shoe.

You sleep 11-12 hours a night.

You have 12 teeth that we brush every night.

You love animals and can say lots of animal noises...
cow, dog, duck, cat, sheep, elephant, monkey, bird, horse, pig.

You listen to us most of the time, but if there is something you do not want or agree with you belly-flop on the ground and pitch a fit. This usually gets you in timeout.

We finally went to Peabody Place to see the ducks.

You loved them and ran all over.

We got to sit by the red carpet that the ducks walk down to get in the elevator.
It is always difficult to keep you still.

So Daddy walked all over with you to see the ducks. I was glad I didn't see the duck get a little close to you. You are a smart girl though and you backed away.

You bring so much joy to each day.

You love being outside

and playing in the water.

You also love Maci.

You have started repeating a lot of words we say. Your vocabulary is growing every day. I love the sound of your sweet voice.
You are very expressive, and it is so fun to see all the faces you make.

You like jewelry and bracelets; however, you will not keep a bow in your hair.

You love to read books and sit in chairs.

You also love to sing songs. Your favorites these days are Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,
Jesus loves Me, the Alphabet song, If You're Happy and You Know It, Head and Shoulders Knees and Toes, Itsy Bitsy Spider. You make the hand signs while we sing.

This is when I asked you to smile.

You are so precious to us.
We love you to pieces!

Happy Saturday Photo Dump

Happy Saturday! Enjoy the pictures of our precious one from the past few weeks.

Having a little quiet time and practicing our coloring.

Watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse...she gets so excited!

Kirksey got her first soccer ball! I have to get her ready to watch the Olympics this summer.

Checking out Papa's medal from the Half-Marathon in Nashville.

At the McWane Science Center in Birmingham. She liked the big light bright,

and climbing,

and driving.

We also went to the playground at Briarwood. Kirksey spent almost the entire time getting in and out of this cozy coupe.

How we shop most days. Kirksey is VERY insistent on helping me push the cart.

Richard and I also got to have a date night and go the Beale Street Music Festival and see NEEDTOBREATHE play. They were fantastic! And so sweet to let us come backstage to say "hi" to them.

Vacation

I am a couple of weeks late getting these pictures posted, but here they are FINALLY!

We went to Lake Martin with my family for the first couple of days.
Kirksey was still not fond of her life jacket, but she liked the boat (best when it was stationary).
She enjoyed the steering wheel and loved the horn once she found it. Good thing there were not many people on our slew that day!

Having a good time with Aunt Heather

And of course Daddy!

Beware...you might be blinded by these white boys.

Kirksey has learned to put the ear pieces up to her ears to listen to music. Richard said that she went around the house for about an hour one day doing this.

After the lake, we headed to Birmingham for a couple of days. Kirksey got to try out her pool that Mimi and Papa have at their house.

If you look close you can see a few scratches on Kirksey's face. They are from where she fell down about 15 steps at the lake. Talk about scaring me to DEATH! Thankfully she was okay.

Richard added lots of hot water to the hose water, which made the pool water just like bath water. Kirksey liked it!

Kirksey found her monitor. Do you think she wanted a nap?

We headed to Gulf Shores for the last half of our vacation. I had not been to Gulf Shores since I was a kid. It was so much fun going back. Although, it was totally different going on a beach trip with a little one than I remembered!

Going out to the beach for the first time this year.

She didn't like the sand very much at all. When we would try to put her feet in the sand, she would pick up her legs so they wouldn't touch.

It was so nice to have Aunt Bee with us on our first beach trip of the day.

We were able to finally lure her to a little "pool" of water where she played with seashells.

Sweet toddler feet and chunky legs!

Getting the hang of it

We went back out after nap time. Daddy, Uncle Neel, and Emmy joined Aunt Bee, Kirksey, and me. Big Daddy watched us from the balcony of our condo.

Daddy and Uncle Neel decided to build a sand castle.

Happy to be in Emmy's lap and not touching the sand!

The boys enlisted some help...

Uncle Neel putting on the finishing touch

We had a wonderful vacation!
