3 Months Old

Kirksey, you are 3 months old! (well, almost since there are only 28 days in February)

The time is flying by. Your daddy and I cannot believe how old you are.
You are still in size 1 diapers. Your little legs are getting more rolls on them and it is so cute!
You are in 0-3 month clothes.
You are so good at holding your head up. You really like sitting in your bumbo (for a short amount of time). I don't think it will be very long before you can sit up completely on your own. You try now and do well for a second or two, but then you slowly fall to the side.
You are also getting close to rolling over. I'm going to have to start being careful where I put you when I set you down so you don't roll away!
You are such a happy baby. You give us the best big smiles we could ever hope for! You really only fuss when you are hungry, tired, need a diaper change, or want attention.
You are showing your sweet personality more and more every day. It is so fun to watch you grow.
You have found your hands and like to try to suck on them. I try to give you your paci instead so maybe I won't have to make you stop sucking your thumb when you are older.
You also love to see yourself in the mirror. I will set you in your bumbo on our bathroom counter in front of the mirror while I get ready and you keep yourself entertained.
You are still cooing a good bit. I can't wait to see what your first word will be.
You have started to have a slight giggle when you are smiling and "talking". It is adorable. Your daddy was holding you tonight while you napped and he said that you started to laugh and woke yourself up!
You are doing good sleeping at night. You average 6 to 8 hours straight a night, then you wake up to eat and go back to sleep for another 3 hours! You have spent the vast majority in your swing at night. However, last night you slept in your crib all night long. I still had to get up and feed you in the middle of the night, but I was able to get you to go back to sleep in your crib. Maybe we have made the transition!
We are still working on getting you to take good naps during the day. You will only sleep about 30 minutes at a time. I am not complaining though since you do so well at night.
I have gone back to "paid" work and miss you while I am away, but your daddy is taking care of you during those times. You have really taken to him since he has spent so much one-on-one time with you. You have started staring at him like you have stared at me for the last couple of months. It is absolutely precious. I think you are going to be a "daddy's girl"!
I've always heard that you don't really understand the love a parent has for their child until you have one of your own. That statement is so very true. Both your daddy and I would lay down our lives for you in a heartbeat. We completely adore you!

Daddy Day Care

I had to go back to work this week. It was hard to leave Kirksey and I missed her so much while I was working, but she was in good hands! Richard got to take care of her for the 3 days that I worked.
This is what happened while I was at work...this picture cracks me up.

They took a trip to Best Buy, which Richard said she really liked. Do you think that is his excuse to get to go there?
They also met some friends at Taco Boy. I think she loved being with daddy!

Congratulations Heather and Taylor!

This past weekend Heather and Taylor got engaged! Taylor did a great job and really surprised Heather. They went on a walk and when they turned the corner Heather saw this.

And then this happened!

We are so excited for you Aunt Heather and Uncle (to be) Taylor!

Mama's #1 Fan, Bathtime, Park

I had my first game back last week. Kirksey (and Richard) came to cheer me on. I even scored a goal! She was turned away from the field and sleeping, but I still think that she must be my good luck charm! Please ignore the sweaty, tired mess that I am in the picture.

She really does like her baths, but I couldn't get her to smile at the camera. I just thought she is too cute to not post a bathtime picture.

This picture is just to document our first trip to the park. She did a lot of watching, that is after she had her fit and I had to feed her in the car. It all started when she heard another kid crying. She pouted her lip out and it was all downhill from there.

Then, the big moment tonight...she rolled from her back to here...

She just couldn't quite figure out what to do with the arm underneath her to completely roll over to her stomach. It won't be long though before she can do it all on her own!

Happy Valentine's Day

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

We made these last week for Kirksey to send to her grandparents!

Kirksey's first Valentine's present

On another note, our computer had not been working for about a week, so look below for some other new posts. Today I was catching us up!

Bottles and Brushes

We had a fun Girls' Night out on Friday. We went to Bottles and Brushes to paint the pineapple fountain. We sipped on wine and had some snacks (thanks Ashley and Liz) while we worked. It definitely took some concentration (or at least on my part), but I really enjoyed getting out and just spending time with these close friends.

The conversation heart said "U can do it"

Road Trip

A little over a week ago we took a trip to go start looking for houses in Memphis, but more importantly for Kirksey to meet the 2 great-grandmothers she had not seen yet!
We stopped in Birmingham first and saw Mammaw.

My Aunt Mary and Uncle Reggie also came to meet Kirksey

Then, on the way back from Memphis we stopped in Aliceville to see Mom. Ann, Mary Bess, and John were also there to meet Kirksey.

Kirksey was full and happy after Mom gave her a bottle.
She was wonderful on the LONG car ride. Most of the time she slept.
But we listened to lots of music and played some too!

"Hello Sophie"

"I think I'll gnaw on your ear"
And then we had enough of being in the car!
Thank you again Mimi, Papa, Emmy, and Big Daddy for watching Kirksey while we looked at houses.

Saddest.Thing.Ever

Kirksey had her 2 month checkup yesterday (a.k.a. 2 month shots). It was so sad to see such a sweet girl with the biggest smiles and some coos IMMEDIATELY change to huge tears, awful cry, and the reddest face. It broke my heart.
We spent the rest of the day/night cuddling. So sorry, no new pictures.

We do have some stats from her visit though! The pediatrician said she looks great and is doing great developmentally (however, we already knew this!).

Weight - 9 pounds 9 ounces (21.58 percentile)
Height - 22 inches (37.21 percentile)
Head Circumference - 14.5 inches (10.66 percentile) - Ok, so she has her mom's little head. But mom's holds big brains, so there is nothing to worry about. Ha!
