10 Months Old

Kirksey, you are 10 months old!
You are growing up so fast already.
You still wear size 3 diapers.
You wear mostly 6-9 month clothes.
You still nurse 5 times a day and have 3 meals of "real" food each day. You are a good eater. There really isn't anything that you won't eat. It might take a second try, but then you eat whatever it is without any problems. I am very thankful for that! I am still making/pureeing most of your baby food; however, when we travel I use the organic jars or pouches since that is easier.
We are still waiting on your first pearly white to show itself. I'm really not in a rush for you to get teeth though since I am still nursing you.
You are sick for the second time right now. You have had a fever for a day with an extremely runny nose. Hopefully, you will get over this little bug soon! You are still such a sweet baby, even if you have been a little fussy lately.
You get into everything and anything you can get your hands on. You are starting to know if it is something that you shouldn't be in because you will go to touch it, then look back to me to see what I will do.
You have so much personality already. I can't wait to see more of it!
You still LOVE Mr. Dup-a-doo. We are on our 3rd one. We can ask you where he is and tell you to go get him and you do it with a big excited smile on your face.
You really like Panda too. When you see him you get so excited and flap your arms and legs as you make happy noises. I know it makes daddy very happy since he was the one who picked Panda out for you.
You have said several words, mostly you repeat after I say them over and over and over. You have said dog, duck, book, hello dada (playing with the phone). Of course, I only know you were saying these because we were working on them at that moment and not because they were very clear. However, you say "dada" very clearly and all the time. You have yet to say "mama", but you have gotten close a few times. You also say "uh, oh" when you drop something.
You are starting to point to more things. The first thing you started pointing at was the light.
You have stood on your own a handful of times, but mostly use me or furniture to help you up. I know you could start walking if you wanted to, but you are so good at crawling I don't think you have much of a reason to start yet. You will be standing and will wobble like you might walk, but then you sit down very controlled and take off crawling toward the object that has you attention at the moment.
You go all over the place with your walker. If you run into the wall or furniture you push it so hard that it lifts up off the back wheels and then you get mad you can't keep going. So, we just turn you around and you're off again.
You are such a delight. It is so much fun watching you develop and discover new things. This has been one of my favorite months...along with the last 9 months!

Pumpkin Spiced Lattes...yum!

The morning and evening air are nice and cool, which means it is time for pumpkin spiced lattes! I have yet to actually get one from a coffee shop, but I have been making my version of them at home. I think mine are a close match to the "professionals". I use pumpkin spice coffee from World Market. After it has brewed I add a couple of scoops of the Stephen's Pumpkin Spice mix, then I will usually add a splash of french vanilla liquid coffee creamer. It is perfect for those crisp, cool mornings!
Afterall, I might just need this little jumpstart to my day to help me keep up with my precious little one that gets into EVERYTHING!
I mean, she doesn't even slow down to pick which toy to take with her as she crawls. Why not carry one in her mouth and one in her hand?

Daycare update

Just a little update on daycare over the past week. Kirksey has done better with being away from me while I work over the past couple of times she has been at daycare. It still breaks my heart to see her notice me trying to slip out the door and watching her crawl as fast as she can while crying to try to follow me. Richard said she did the same to him the day he dropped her off, but he said it made him feel good that she got upset over him leaving too (that it isn't just mama!).
She has been eating her real food better, but sometimes doesn't take as much of her bottle as I would hope. She has been able to nap for a total of an hour (over the course of just one day). So hopefully her taking consistent naps there will come soon too. She is always so tired when I get to her, but oh so happy to see me!
Here are a couple of pictures to show what she is busy doing these days...
Standing on her own.
She gets into everything!

Past Weekend and Pictures from Lately

We went to the MSU game at Auburn this past weekend. Kirksey stayed in Birmingham with my parents so Richard and I could go to the game.

Kirksey helping me pack for the weekend...
"Mom, don't forget your brush"
We were waiting for Richard to get off work so we could head out of town and Kirksey found her Cheerios.
I turned my back for seriously 0.5 seconds and this is what I found.

Playing by the back door at Mimi and Papa's house.

I asked Mimi to make sure to take a picture of Kirksey in her game day dress and these are what we got. Hmmm, for some reason there is no picture they took without an Auburn shirt in the background. (coincidence, I think not!)

Heather and Taylor went to the game with us. We had such a good time with them.
We had them surrounded by MSU fans. So, other than the sunburns we got and the outcome of the game, we had a great day.

Here are a few pictures from the last few days.
Kirksey helping me get ready for a shopping trip to Walgreens. Never too early to learn about coupons!
This is how Kirksey has been crawling lately...one leg under her and one leg out.

Just playing and looking cute.
She looks like she is going to stand up on her own very soon. The only place she has done that before is in the bathtub (talk about making me nervous).

She has started doing this when we ask her, "Where's the light?"

Her first tooth is coming soon. I can feel a little bump on her lower gum but nothing is showing yet.

Happy 30th Birthday!!!

Happy Birthday to the most wonderful husband and daddy!
Richard, you work so hard for us and love us so very much. Thank you for all you do. We love you more than you know!
You better hurry home before Kirksey decides to open your present.

We hope the next 30 years are even better than the first 30!

First MSU Game and Labor Day Weekend

We went to the first Mississippi State game here in Memphis last Thursday. It was Richard's birthday present.
Before the game, waiting on Daddy to get home so we can go.
"What?!? We get to go to the game!!"
GO STATE!

"I'm so excited!"
"Oooh, look at those lights"

She was worn out after the game.

Then on Friday we headed to Mississippi for the long weekend. We had a great time with family! Saturday morning Richard and I went to play golf with Libby and Neel. The in-laws beat the siblings! (Only one of my shots actually counted toward the game, but I had a great time.)
Later that afternoon, we had our first dove hunt of the season. Kirksey even put her camoflauge on for the occasion.
Kirksey did so good with the loud noises all weekend. She heard lots of gun shots, barking dogs, and loud talking.
Hanging out with Emmy and Libby during the hunt.
Family pic in camo.
Kirksey loves riding in the mule with Emmy and Big Daddy.

On Sunday we celebrated Libby and Richard's birthday with a big family lunch. It was so good to be with everyone this weekend. We relaxed a lot and ate good food.
Hope you had a good Labor Day Weekend too!

Daycare

Like I've said before, I have started work back. Which means we had to find someone to watch our precious (little bit of a handful) Kirksey. Thankfully, there is a daycare through my work that I can use up to 45 days out of the year. Which is great since I am only going to have to use it maybe 2 or 3 times a month. It is also very affordable.
Kirksey had her first day of daycare yesterday. Here's the picture just before we headed out the door.
We both look happy, right? Well, let's just say that those smiles didn't last much longer after I dropped her off.
As soon as I walked out of the room, she started crying/screaming. I had tried to slip out without her seeing, but as soon as I was halfway out the door she saw me. Oh, the look of hurt I saw in those eyes. Heartbreaking! I stood outside the door for a few minutes to see if she would calm down. I knew I couldn't go back in there though because it would just make it worse. Several minutes passed and she was still very upset. Fighting back tears I walked out of the daycare and got in my car to get to work before I was late. I did manage to hold back tears until I got in my car (it was a good thing I had waterproof mascara on!).
When I called to check on Kirksey a few hours later they told me that she was being fussy and upset, that she had not eaten, and that she would not take a nap. My poor, sweet little girl was distraught (so was her mama).
Thankfully, I only had a short day and was able to pick her up a little before 1pm. At least, I knew that she would eat from me once we got home. As soon as I picked her up she gave me a big smile and was JUST fine. Needless to say, I apologized to the sweet ladies that took care of her all day. Hopefully next time will be better.
She still only managed to take a 30 minute nap...all day long! Maybe she was scared I would leave her again?
Oh, I took a picture of her daily slip that they give the parents. Check out the comment she got, it makes me wonder just how bad she really was.
