14 Months Old!

Kirksey, you are 14 months old today! You have definitely moved on to being a toddler. You are such a delight to be around!

You are finishing up the last few size 3 diapers that we have and then you will be moving up to size 4.
You mostly wear 12 month clothes.
You wear about a size 3 shoe.
You have 9 teeth showing, including a molar on the left upper side.
You eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day.
You drink between 1 1/2 - 2 of your sippy cups of each water and milk a day.
I am still putting you down for 2 naps a day, but you are starting to really fight your afternoon nap. It looks like we will be taking that morning nap away soon.
You love...
music,
dancing-you have recently added spinning around to your moves,
Maci,
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse - you will bring me the remote to put it on the tv,
Panda,
Frog,
outside,
opening drawers and cabinets,
baths,
markers,
books,
phones,
keys,...
and the list could seriously go on and on. You love most everything these days, except when I tell you "NO" - then you pitch a little fit.
You say "muk" (milk), "do" (dog), "duk" (duck), "ro-o" (roll over) with the hand motion, "all done" while signing (sounds a little like your roll over), you sign "more".
You will sometimes repeat what I say. For instance, the other day I was trying to get you to say "please"with the sign language and you copied me.
You still point a lot, but you understand so much too. You surprise me with something new everyday. You are so smart!
You get tickled at things and laugh throughout the day. There is nothing sweeter than your laugh.
You greet daddy when he comes home from work by almost running into his arms when you here him come in the front door.
You still love your mama, but you are starting to prefer your daddy at times. I knew you would start to  become a daddy's girl soon. Plus, he lets you get away with almost anything!
You are always bringing/handing us something.
You tell Maci to "ro-o" (roll over) all the time. You have even started to get on the couch with me to sit and you will pat your hand beside you to get Maci to get on the couch too. He is content being around you too now. He will let you walk up to him and pat on him, instead of running away from you. It might also have to do with the fact that you occasionally share your food with him!
You are getting good at knowing different animals. You don't say many of their names, but you can pick them out if I ask you. A new animal sound you have been doing is the elephant. You have a sippy cup with an elephant on it and you will point at it and make the noise.
You have been enjoying our zoo membership. We went again today.
You said "ba" to the sheep.

Then you told it to roll over,

You were also telling the cows to roll over, along with the tiger, elephant, panda and several other animals.

Today was the first time the pandas were not sleeping. You were so excited to see them moving around!

I truly love the excitement in your eyes as you discover something new.
We love you so incredibly much!

Zoo and Finger Paints

We went to the zoo on my birthday and we had a great time. Kirksey is truly at such a fun age!

Then when we got home she decided to clean the floor for me for my birthday present!

Today I decided to make homemade finger paint. I used a recipe that I had found on Pinterest via easiepeasie.blogspot.com.

The recipe is:

3 tbs sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup corn starch
2 cups water

Combine ingredients in a small saucepan. Warm until mixture thickens. Cool and pour into containers. Add food coloring to create desired colors.

I think I could have cooked it for a little less time to make it more runny. It ended up being a "pudding" consistency.

And Richard thought saving these jars were "not worth it" ;)

I only added 2 drops of each color this time to make sure it didn't stain Kirksey's skin, but I could have added more in hindsight!

I put Kirksey in one of my small t-shirts and used a bag clip and hair clips to help it fit her. We use what we have around here. :)

She did not like the finger paint idea, so she used spoons, q-tips, and a cheese spreader.

Some did wind up in her mouth. I wasn't worried about it though, because I knew there was nothing in it that would harm her, it just obviously did not taste good.

Then of course she liked playing with the jar.

Best of all, it kept her occupied for about 1 hour!

Just a few more pictures of my sweet girl!

29 Forever

Today is the last day in my twenties and tomorrow will bring on the dreaded day. I have not been looking forward to this one bit.
My 20s brought along many things...
being on my own,
deciding on a career,
finding a wonderful husband,
having an amazing daughter,
living in 3 different states...
all in all, so many life changing things occurred.
I am blessed that my twenties were so amazing. The years after my twenties (I am refusing to say the decade) will undoubtedly be just as good if not better. Many doctors have told Richard that this next decade will be the best years of our lives. We will be able to...
afford the things that most people in their twenties can (since their careers were really started then, and it takes doctors longer to really get "started"),
become settled in one place,
watch this precious one grow,
and hopefully have a bigger family.

But until I decide that getting older truly is better, I vow to be 29 forever!

Welcome to 2012...finally

Happy New Year!
...about a half a month late :)

Well, just before 2012, Heather and Taylor got married!
Wasn't she beautiful!

Getting ready

Kirksey was the most adorable and well behaved flower girl ever. She rode down in a wagon that I pulled. I'm pretty sure no one even paid attention to the matron of honor...all eyes were on this little beauty!

We were glad that Aunt Marty got to come for Christmas and the Wedding

They look happy to have their last child married!

Mimi with the next "new" parents! Coming in July!

And there was dancing...

The view from Vulcan

Here's some more pictures of our little sunshine.

Here's the dress I made Kirksey. It's still a little big, but I don't care, she still looks cute!

We also ended up getting a new computer since our laptop was on its last leg.
Kirksey enjoys hanging out with daddy at the new computer.
