We had not been back to Charleston since we moved and were so excited to get to visit last week!
This was Kirksey's second time on an airplane, but I had to really try to plan out her time on the plane to make it enjoyable for everyone around us her.
Even though we did not have to buy a ticket for her this time (since she is still under 2) we asked if there were extra seats on the flight since we were traveling with a child. We were able to get a whole row for the 3 of us on both flights on the way to Charleston.
Kirksey did so well on the plane. Many people told us how good and well behaved she was. Those people did not see her HUGE tantrum at baggage claim. Richard was at the desk getting a rental car, so Kirksey and I went to get our bags. I was thinking that surely it would be fine since she had been so good all day. I could not have been more wrong! (Did I mention that she only took a 20 min nap that day). So here I am with 2 suitcases, a backpack, a large purse, and a screaming/flailing toddler who wanted to carry a suitcase all by herself. Obviously, this kid could not possibly pick it up or move it by herself and she did not want any help. With all eyes, on us there was nothing I could do but try to wait it out. (Oh, what I would have traded to be the one getting the rental car!)
We ate a lot on our trip. We had to hit up some favorite places (we would have to be there for about a month to go to all the places we like)!
We had lunch with Karen and Brandon at Poe's, then walked out onto Sullivan's Island beach for a minute.
We took a stroll around the battery. Kirksey liked the cannon balls.
We went to Cypress with Calee, Robert, Nicole, Nicholas, Ashley, Chris, and Cierran (Calee, tell me if I misspelled his name)
Love these girls
and guys!
Then we headed to Myrtle Beach for the weekend to all hang out and be under 1 roof. We are so thankful to have all these friends in our lives!
Mills was always ready to put on a show!
Kirksey had a good time watching/playing with Mills.
Dancin'
The waves were getting pretty big on Saturday when the hurricane was "nearby".
I was surprised that Kirksey liked the mask...now if I can only talk her into wearing a bow or headband!
She wanted to hold baby Hayes, then quickly changed her mind by the time I could grab the camera.
We had to make sure to get some beach pictures too while we were at Myrtle Beach.
This is the 1000 piece puzzle that Nicole and I stayed up until 3 am to finish (wow, we must be getting old!)
We went to Blue to eat our last night in Charleston.
I love Folly Beach!
Kirksey gave Calee some good loving.
This was too funny not to share. Richard and Robert were FaceTiming each other while sitting in the same room.
Kirksey had a such a great time that she was worn out!
We were even able to catch Kirksey counting to 10 on the plane.
It was a great trip and we can't wait to do it again!
