Kirksey, you are 8 months old today!
You wear a few 3-6 month outfits still, but are mostly in 6 month. A few 6-9 month things fit too.
You wear size 3 diapers.
You sleep all night and I am so thankful for that! Then when I come in to get you in the morning you are standing in your bed waiting on me.
You take 2 naps a day. The first one is in the morning about 2 hours after you wake up. Then the afternoon nap is about an hour or so after you eat lunch. Sometimes if the second nap is short you will take another short one right before dinnertime.
You nurse 5-6 times a day.
You eat either oatmeal or rice cereal for breakfast with some type of fruit in it, usually bananas, apples, or prunes.
At dinner you have vegetables and maybe a fruit or meat, all pureed. You have gotten to where you will eat banana pieces though.
You also love to eat puffs.
I am trying to teach you the word "more" in sign language. You can't do it yourself yet, but I am confident by the look on your face that you know what I am saying when I do it.
You had your first fever on July 19. Your temperature got up to 102.1 (rectally). You didn't even act like you felt too bad, you played all day. I was so glad when it finally went away. It broke my heart to only be able to give you tylenol and not do anything more to make it go away. I can only imagine how sad/worried I will be when you are sick and obviously feeling bad.
You are such a sweet girl. You love your mama and daddy. You are particularly fond of me and will often fuss when I walk by you, go into the other room, or pass you off to someone else to hold. You will instantly stop fussing as soon as you are back in my arms. I know this stage will only last for a short while so instead of worrying that is it is hard sometimes, I try to enjoy that you want your mama these days.
We play with all kinds of things throughout the day. Many times the things that are not toys become the most fun to play with, of course I supervise closely.
You also played with a piece of ice until it melted, and you were so entertained.
We also have lots of "real" toys you play with inside and outside.
You get in this little pool almost every other day.
You are now taking baths in the regular tub and you enjoy them so much. You take a bath every other night, unless you are too dirty to wipe with a cloth in between bath nights.
You are crawling all over the place. There have been times when I have gone to throw something in the other room and I have to look around to find where you went. Needless to say, we have started to babyproof the house. Thankfully, there are lots of doors in our house that we can close and keep you contained in one area.
You pull up on everything...the couch, chairs, dresser, drawers, my legs.
You took your first steps on July 26. You were standing facing me and I made you let go of my hands. You stood for a second or two, then took 3 steps before falling into my arms. I think you might just start walking before your first tooth surfaces!
You still love looking at yourself in the mirror. I think you know it is you that you are looking at though and not just another baby. You are a smart little girl.
You make some of the funniest faces, but everytime I try to get a picture of them you will smile and pose for the camera.
You have gotten your first pair of shoes with a rubber sole.
You have been doing this "come here" motion with your hand. It is always your right hand that you do it with. So I wonder, will you be right-handed like your daddy or left-handed like me?
You also observe everything around you and never miss a thing!
You are the joy of our lives. We love you more and more everyday. It is so exciting and fun to see all the ways you are changing and growing.
