Getting Closer

I've been having contractions since Saturday. They come and go, and some are more painful than others. I went to the doctor again this morning and I am now 2 cm dialated and 75% effaced...which means the contractions are doing their job and Kirksey's arrival is getting closer!

Our Thanksgiving dinner turned out beautifully. The turkey was great, Richard might get to cook it every year! He set our dining room table with our fine china and even poured grape juice in our wine glasses! Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of the table, but here is one of the turkey...

14 Days...

Check out the ticker above...I am 38 weeks today, only 14 days from my due date!  I am hoping Kirksey will come a little sooner though. Richard wants her to at least wait until December 2 (this is when he will change to another rotation), although he really thinks she will be past her due date. I am getting a little more uncomfortable every day. There are times when she pushes her feet out so hard that I think it will pop right though my skin. She still moves a lot, but it is more rolling and adjusing then bouncing all over the place. I know I have said it before, but I really do not think my belly can stretch anymore. Thankfully, I don't have any stretch marks (yet), and I'll give the credit to Palmer's Cocoa Butter. Here's the 38 week picture:

Over the past week I have been getting ready for Kirksey to come, I guess you could call it nesting. I have washed EVERYTHING and now it is all in its "spot".

Before

After
I have also slowly started to make meals to put in the deep freeze for later. So far I have made taco/southwest soup and chicken spaghetti. Please send me some good meals that freeze well if you have them!

My hospital bag is almost ready. Richard has given me a hard time about not having this packed yet since I usually start packing very early for vacations/trips. One of the last things I have to put in the bag is Kirksey's coming home outfit. I got her a sweet white Pixie Lily (Charleston made) outfit and her initials are being monogrammed on it in pink. It should be ready sometime today! I'll wait to show the outfit until she is wearing it home!

Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I am working ALL day, Richard is going to cook a turkey. This will be the first one "we" have cooked in our house, or maybe I should say ever since neither of us have actually been in charge of cooking one. Richard's mom and my mom have cooked one here, but not us. Hopefully it will turn out ok and we will be able to eat turkey tomorrow night! Today I am going to make sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, and cornbread casserole in advance, so Richard just has to heat it up when I am headed home from work.
Richard and I talk a lot about how blessed we are and everything we are thankful for. This year the big thing in the forefront of our minds that we are thankful for is this sweet little girl that we prayed for and can't wait to meet!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Decision Made!

Drumroll please...

              Baby Girl Heard is now...

that's right, our little girl FINALLY has a name...

Kirksey Brooke Heard

For those of you who do not know, the name is both Richard's and my middle name put together. We made the decision just in time for our baby shower here in Charleston with our friends from residency and a few friends from my soccer team!  The shower on Saturday was just down the street at Nicole and Nicholas' house. I couldn't be more thankful for the Nicole, Calee, and Ashley (the hosts). We have been through a lot together since residency started 2 1/2 years ago and I can't imagine sweeter friends!

Calee, Mills, Nicole, and Ashley

I'm stealing borrowing some pictures from Nicole's and Calee's blogs for my post today. They are both so much better at making sure to snap pictures wherever we are. Maybe after Kirksey arrives, I will improve with my picture taking!

We had BaByQ (look at the sauce bottles) and lots of other good food!

We played a measure around the couple game with tissue paper, a baby food taste test game, and a make a baby out of Play-Doh game. We had some very artistic couples...

We also had the Mississippi State/Alabama game on during the shower. Richard was a little preoccupied at times.

Mills even put on his Future Mr. Right outfit

Here are a couple pictures from Friday night...the Auxillary Wine Tasting (or for me the sparkling red grape juice night).

Precious Sleep

Last night I took a benadryl for the first time since I've been pregnant...and I slept so much better. I had worked an odd shift from 3am-3pm yesterday with only about 3 1/2 hours sleep the night before. I wanted to sleep more but our little girl had different plans, between her kicking and me needing to get up to go to the bathroom. I only took about an hour nap when I got home but still had trouble falling to sleep last night, that is until I took the benadryl. Today I was much happier and rested.
We had my 36 week appointment this morning. The doctor said that the baby has dropped and I am starting to change, but she doesn't think our little girl will come before Thanksgiving. (I guess I'll have to work Thanksgiving day afterall). The good news is that I'm definitely headed in the right direction. Here's the36 week picture:

Ultrasound Pictures and Videos

I had another ultrasound today. It is always fun to get a peek at our little girl! Richard was able to come watch for a little while before he got paged back to work. My next ultrasound is scheduled for December 2, so if she decides to come before then this could have been our last look at her before she is really here. It all still seems surreal to me. Her estimated weight, as of today, is 4 lbs 14 ounces.
