Birthday Weekend

I am officially 29 (not 30 dad, ha!) and I had a great day! But first, I must give an update on the star of our lives...
Richard painted our master bathroom on Wednesday, so in lieu of that we decided to get away from the paint fumes and sleep upstairs. We packed up the pack 'n' play and put Kirksey in her room for the first night. She did end up sleeping in the swing instead of her crib, but we are in the process of working on that. She slept so good...about 6-7 hours! I, on the other hand, did not sleep so well. I think it was because it was the first night she was not in the room with us (we were sleeping in the other room upstairs). I know we were really only about 30 yards from her, but it just was not the same. I'm sure every mom goes through this, but it makes me realize how fast she is "growing up" already. Don't get me wrong though I am happy she is in her room now (especially after Richard put so much work into making it perfect), but it is still a little sad. Oh, she also loves her room. She always stares at the paint on the walls and seems so content! She is sleeping an average of about 5 hours a night now in her room. Richard and I are back in our room now too, so we just make the trip upstairs to feed/soothe/change diapers. Maybe having to go up and down the stairs a lot will help me loose the extra baby weight, ha!
Uncle Michael and Aunt Christa came to visit for my birthday to meet Kirksey for the first time! They got here late Friday night and left this morning. We really enjoyed them being here. Kirksey already loves them.  Uncle Michael could make her smile SO big. Unfortunately, I was only able to get one on camera that was close to being as big as some of the other smiles.

For my birthday…
Richard let me sleep in while he took care of Kirksey. Then, Richard and Michael fixed us breakfast. Christa and I went to get pedicures for our birthdays (her birthday is on the 28th). We decided that we need to make this a tradition for our birthdays! Richard and Michael were on baby duty while we were out. So, Kirksey was put in the Baby Bjorn. This is what I use to get some housework done like vacuuming.

And, this is what Richard uses it for...

After we got back from the nail salon we all went downtown and spent some time walking around.

Last night we went to Cypress for my birthday dinner.

Even though last year when we went there for my birthday a bat fell into our booth, this restaurant is still one of my favorites in Charleston. Richard and I always get the Chateaubriand, and it is so good. They bring it out and make the presentation table-side. We also get the Caesar salad that they make table-side (the waiters must love us!). Richard ordered a bottle of champagne for us to celebrate the occasion too! Kirksey was very good and after getting her bottle she slept in her car seat the rest of the meal.
