7 Months Old

Kirksey, you are 7 months old today!

We have moved your crib down to the lower setting, so I think we are going to change where we take your monthly pictures to the daybed in your room.

You are now in your 2nd house. We just moved to Memphis, Tennessee last weekend. You did so good on the move. We broke it up into two days. The first day we drove to Birmingham, then we drove the rest of the way the next day. You had a few fussy moments, but who wouldn't being strapped into a carseat for that long. I would pull out my iPhone and play either the baby rattle app or the BabyFirst app with VocabuLARRY (a.k.a. Larry) and you would calm down almost immediately. You love the music and bright colors.

You wear size 3 diapers.
You wear mostly 6 month clothing. Some 3-6 month clothes fit perfectly and some 6 month clothes are too big.
You have been crawling so well lately. You are almost always off of your belly when moving around.
You have even followed me from one room to another.

You love to stand up. You even have gotten to where you will crawl to a box and pull yourself up to a standing position. I can't help but think that you will be athletic.

You can go from lying down to sitting. You do this in your crib, but haven't done it anywhere else yet.
You sit up all by yourself so well now.

We just started giving you a bath in the tub instead of in the kitchen sink. I am still using your little pink bathtub in the big tub though. You prefer to sit up in it now and play/splash. You will pull yourself up to stand in your tub too, which helps me wash your booty!
You are getting good at holding things in your hands.

When you get excited you will flap your arms and you hold on to whatever you might have in your hands.
(I think you like the cowbell.)

You chew on everything, but no teeth yet.
You have been nursing 6 times a day. You also eat oatmeal in the morning and have pureed food at night. So far you have eaten sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots, peas, apples, prunes, bananas, pears, and butternut squash. You are such a good eater.

You give the biggest smiles when I walk in the room. You also get upset if you see me leave the room. I'd have to say that you are a little attached to your mama. It makes me happy that you truly know that I'm your mama.

We are still waiting on your first real word. You vocalize lots of sounds, many that are squeals.
You sleep about 11 hours a night. You will take 2-3 naps each day now. A few have even been 2 hours long!

Just over the past week you have started giving kisses. They are wide open-mouth, slobbery kisses. I love them!

Kirksey, we are so proud of you. You are such a good, happy baby. I look forward to seeing your sweet face every morning and spending the day with you. We love you more than words could ever describe, and that love just keeps growing each day that passes.

Move to Memphis

We have officially moved to Memphis from Charleston. Kirksey was a big help while packing!

Our first night in Charleston we had pizza and champagne from our wedding. So, I thought it would be fitting to do the same (with champagne from our wedding--it was the last bottle we had) on our last night in that house.

Last picture in front of the first house we lived in.

Our first picture in front of our new house.

Richard even read Kirksey a bedtime story (or the direct tv guide). Either way she enjoyed her storytime.

Come along and take a little tour of our house.
This is Kirksey's new room.

The guest room...anyone ready to come visit?

It definitely doesn't feel like home yet; however, between Richard, Kirksey, and I there sure is a lot of love in this house.

Last Days of Charleston

We had been trying to make the most of our last days in Charleston. When we first moved to Charleston, there were four other couples we met at the very first internal medicine party. All of us were in the same stage of life and quickly became good friends. Here are some a lot of pictures during these last few days...

Nicole and Nicholas, Calee and Robert, Liz and Andrew, Ashley and Chris...
These last 3 years wouldn't have been nearly as great without all of y'all in our lives. We have all been through a lot and best of all...we made it through residency!!! We love you all and are terribly missing each of you! Here's a little trip down memory lane...

and of course all 3 years of the Bridge Run
